STATMD Consult with Dr. Catherine Johnson, MD FACEP
Board Certified Emergency Physician

Welcome to STATMD Consult! I have started this service as an alternative
source of healthcare information and care for those urgent but minor
issues that come up... and there's no time to get in with your doctor or wait in the Emergency Department.
From what I have seen online, most virtual consults are with "a licensed doctor." Well, I'd like my patients to feel empowered and feel they have a choice in which physician will treat them on a "virtual visit." When you're feeling ill or need medical expertise, you should feel reassured that your physician is well-trained, experienced and committed to quality care.
I have over fifteen years of clinical experience working in both large, urban and smaller, community hospital Emergency Departments and
Urgent Care Centers. I'd like to help patients navigate our healthcare system, identify therapies for acute and general medical concerns and answer questions in a private and discreet format that saves people time and money.
Going online to access a "STATMD consult" works for many minor ailments and medical questions but is not a substitute for seeing a primary doctor.
Ideally, I would examine patients with a proper physical examination for every consultation. For many consults, a preliminary medical treatment plan can be established without an initial physical examination. It is important that "virtual" services are followed-up with your primary physician. I recommend sending my consultation summary to your primary physician and including the "virtual visit" in your medical records. I respect my patient's privacy and can assure you that no release of patient medical information is shared without a patient's authorized consent.
If you are having chest pain, are short of breath, have the worst headache of your life, feel weak or dizzy, have passed out, or having any acute neurologic changes (confusion, weakness, change in vision or speech)
Please go to the nearest Emergency Department or call 911. Those are just a few examples of cases that can represent significant threats to your life, limbs or organs.
If you're not sure whether or not I can help, send an inquiry and I will let you know without charging you any fees for services.
I am interested in helping patients safely and have your best interests in mind for every consultation.
I practice in the Chicago area and can arrange house calls or other private consultations for your medical care.
I am grateful for the opportunity to save you time and improve your health via STATMD consult.
